Past Experience with Biodiesel |
|
 KMPS designed and supplied a commercial biodiesel purification
unit to a Midwest customer in 2003. The objective of this unit
was to purify methyl esters by vacuum distillation from a crude
biodiesel stream which includes impurities such as water, methanol,
glycerin, mono-glycerides, di-glycerides, tri-glycerides and
other high boilers. This plant has been successfully operating
for over 3 years.
Currently KMPS is designing and building three new biodiesel
purification projects, including a system for one of the largest
capacity biodiesel plants in the North America. These current projects
focus on the recovery of methanol from the post trans-esterification
crude biodiesel and glycerin phases. KMPS is also providing a
soybean oil scrubber to minimize methanol emissions to comply
with
environmental legislation.
Additionally, KMPS has performed extensive pilot scale
testing of several biodiesel purification and methanol recovery
processes at our Houston, Texas
Pilot Plant development facility.

Separation of Biodiesel from Impurities

KMPS can successfully separate biodiesel from methanol, glycerin
and high boiling impurities to produce ASTM grade biodiesel. |

esters based upon boiling point range. |
Methanol Recovery

KMPS is able to design and guarantee recovery of high
purity methanol from the post reaction crude biodiesel and
